Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and Lake County, Montana.
We met the Westgates at Fritz and Penny Trask's home in Denver.
We stayed one night at Sunburst Lodge in Casper, Wyoming.
The Sunburst’s two-story common room is a fine venue for meeting other guests.
For our Yellowstone visit we stayed at the Gardiner Guest House in Gardiner, Montana, just outside the park’s North Gate.
The Gardiner Guest House’s innkeeper, Nancy Parks.
Ann and Michael pose in front of a Yellowstone mud volcano.
Joanne looks down at a travertine slope from a boardwalk.
The travertine looks like a pile of ice.
The travertine, which is deposited continuously, comes in many colors.
Wildflowers were just beginning to appear.
The outcroppings show up in unexpected places.
The colors come from algae. Different species, with different colors, thrive at different temperatures.
